My Journey To Wedding Videography

This Is The Only Section About Me

Hi again, first and foremost ANO Studio is a family run business, on every job you are speaking with Olga or myself and it will be me (Andy) delivering your wedding. I may bring in associate videographers, however it is me every time. Anyway...

Over 10 years of video and photo services is an incredibly long time. They say your first 10,000 shots are your worst, so good news for you I am well versed in taking epic content.

I love storytelling, always have! While the focus is on Weddings for about 80% of what I do, I started off working with bands and venues. Sheffield’s very own The Leadmill is where I learnt all about shooting in dark locations and from there have crafted a great knowledge of light and how to work with a camera.

From here, I found myself touring with bands, working on some of the largest stages across the UK and being recognised as one of the Top 100 Influential Music Photographers in the World. I loved photography but needed a new challenge so started doing more videos for bands, this has led to some pretty amazing music video productions with pyrotechnics and epic storyboarding.

I wont name too many bands, artists & organisers who have used my work, but a few of notable recognition are; Paloma Faith, Boyzlife, Nile Rodgers, The Jockey Club & Music Plus Sport.

This has all led me to where I am now, I have far too much camera gear for each scenario however it means that my dedicated camera setup for wedding films is pretty epic! I only use cameras which are Netflix approved, which means your wedding film quality is good enough for cinema and I don’t care what anyone says, having the right kit and knowing how to use it is everything!

In my first year of filming weddings I became a finalist at the East Midlands Wedding Industry Awards, this came after my first season sold out in 30 days. The following year also filled very quickly and I oversubscribed my offering.

Good news though, this wasn’t an issue. I understood that this would mean expanding. I will always film every wedding, however I now have a trusted editor who sits in a dark room 24/7 editing my epic weddings whilst I get to have all the real fun.

Anyway, even I am boring me now. The proof is always in the pudding, so I invite you to take a look at my testimonials page where you can read from real couples.

My Style

There are so many wedding videographers out there, and there are some absolutely amazing folk who can tell a story. I like to think of myself as one of them.

This section isn't for everyone. But for those with a keen eye, here is what to look out for.

I like to shoot handheld for about 75% of the wedding, this means no tripod and no gimbal. Why? Because it looks better. Handheld footage feels more relatable to the viewer and helps them feel more immersed, it is a technique used in many movies these days and I am there for it. The only time I use tripods is during Speeches and Ceremony to get alternative angles.

Foley... basically, really noises. To compliment the handheld style I like to use foley, these are sounds which you expect to hear in certain scenes, such as the running water outside West Mill, Derby or the birds chirping around almost every Cripps & Co Barns.

Still in doubt? The best advice I can give you is to jump on a video call, let's chat. If we get on during this call, the chances are, you will love your wedding film. A lot of the process is about trust.
